JAM VIII: Share The Vision - Apr 23rd

Posted by: Shawn Reese on April 7, 2010 08:24:30
Join us on April 23, from 6:00 – 9:30 for a SUPER AWESOME fundraiser and service project!  We will be raising money for our VisionTrust students and doing a service project for InnVision, a women’s shelter in downtown San Jose.  This is how it will work:

  • Collect clothes to donate to the shelter [they will take any clothes (men, women or children’s) in excellent condition].
  • Then, ask a friend or family member to contribute $5 for every pound of clothes you collect (or you can just ask for a set amount).  We will weigh your clothes on April 23 before heading to InnVision (or you can weigh them at home).
  • The service project at InnVision (7:00-9:00) will consist of a clothing sort, some painting and possibly some small cleanup activities around the facility.
  • On the 23rd, please bring your permission slip, the clothes, $5 for pizza and the donated $$ if you have it. Make sure to wear warm clothes that you can get dirty.
  • Parents pick up at the church at 9:30.

Download the fantabulous flyer here, the permission slip here and the pledge sheet here.

I will be there the entire night to provide the home base for students and parents. Parents should pick up at the same location at 9:15. Bring extra money for snacks. Parents - we can use your help to chaperone this event. Please let us know if you can help. RSVP on our RSVP page, but if you forget to, just show up!  Read all the info here (no permission slip is necessary - just show up).

JAM III: Rake-N-Run + Fast 4 Hunger - Nov 15

Posted by: Shawn Reese on October 28, 2009 12:07:00

Ready for some BIG FUN WHILE SERVING??  Our November JAM is it!!  We will do a service project called a rake-n-run plus a fast to raise money for our VisionTrust students. There are three easy steps:

1.     Pass out Flyers:  During the 2nd service on November 8, we will walk around our church neighborhood and pass out flyers regarding our Rake-N-Run on Nov 15.  All you need for this day is your walking shoes.  RSVP by hitting the 'RSVP' button above by Nov 5 if you can help with this step.

2.     The Fast:  Figure out how much it costs to feed you per day.  Contribute that amount plus ask your parents, friends, extended family, etc, if they will ALSO donate that amount.  Begin the fast after lunch on Saturday, November 14. Whenever you feel hungry, pray for your sponsored student.  Download pledge sheets at http://pbccjh.org/thelatest.  Download the pledge sheet here.

3.     Break the Fast + Rake-N-Run:  After 2nd service on November 15 (~12:00), we will all break the fast together with pizza in the youth room.  At around 12:30, we will begin walking around the neighborhood raking people’s yards.  We will all meet back at PBCC around 2:30 for ice cream.  Parents should pick up students at church at 3:00.  Bring $5 for pizza, rakes, gloves and your donations that day.  Also, please RSVP by hitting the 'RSVP' button above before Nov 10 for this step.  Thanks!
